The short version

Alpha builds a USB stick that goes straight into your gear — no laptop in the chain. Two formats do that: Denon Engine OS and rekordbox for Pioneer DJ and AlphaTheta players. You pick one right before it writes.

For Engine DJ / Engine OS we built and tested Alpha on the Denon DJ Prime Go; the rest of the Engine OS family reads the exact same drive format.

Pioneer DJ and AlphaTheta players are supported too. Alpha writes a full rekordbox USB — both the classic library and the newer encrypted one — that a CDJ or XDJ reads directly. You do not need rekordbox installed anywhere: the stick plugs straight into the player. On the list are the CDJ-3000 and CDJ-2000NXS2, the XDJ-RX3 and RX2, XDJ-XZ, XDJ-1000MK2 and XDJ-700, plus the OPUS-QUAD and XDJ-AZ. This target is new, so please confirm it on your own gear.

Playing from a laptop?

Then Alpha writes for that too, though it's not what the tool is built around. VirtualDJ gets a full library with your tags, BPM and key. Serato DJ gets a crate with the beat grid baked into the copied files — export to the drive's root, because that's the only place Serato looks. Traktor Pro gets a collection.nml you import once via File → Import Collection.

In all three cases a computer running the software reads the drive; none of them produce a stick that plays on its own. In Alpha you'll find them behind + Also export for DJ software (laptop) in the target picker.
