Good to know

The full app, limited to 10 tracks

Free gives you the complete app — every feature unlocked. The limits: it stops after 10 tracks, and it runs on one device.

Nothing is greyed out, nothing is watermarked, nothing expires after a fortnight. You point Alpha at your music, it reads tempo, key, energy and loudness, you pick an energy arc, and it writes a proper drive — Engine OS or rekordbox — you can take to a gig. Those 10 tracks are a real set on a real stick, not a preview.

That's deliberate: a DJ tool is impossible to judge from a feature list. You should be able to plug the stick into your own player before deciding anything.

How many devices does one licence cover?

Two devices — say, your studio Mac and the laptop you take to gigs. The free version runs on one.

If you replace a machine or want to move to another one, you can transfer the licence yourself in your account — it is tied to you, not welded to your computers.

What updates are included?

Everything in your version line. You buy the 1.x line, and every 1.x release is included: bug fixes, improvements, new hardware support. You paid once, you get them.

If one day there is a 2.0 with massively new features, that may be offered separately — for example as an add-on. You never have to buy it: your 1.x keeps working and keeps getting its updates.

What “lifetime” actually means here

Part of Alpha runs on our servers — arranging your set harmonically is done there. That raises a fair question: what happens to a lifetime licence if we ever switch those servers off?

The answer is written into our terms, not just promised here. Before that service is ever shut down, everyone holding a lifetime licence gets a full desktop version that does the arranging on their own machine and needs no connection to us at all. The licence outlives the service.

Why one payment instead of a subscription?

Alpha was written by DJs who were tired of losing the afternoon before a gig to a USB stick. This wasn't a market we spotted — it was our own Saturday, gone, every single time.

That's also why there's no subscription. Alpha does one job, and that job doesn't cost us more every month, so billing you every month would just be us taking because we can. You pay once, it's yours, and we get on with making it better. DJs looking after DJs — support each other, don't fleece each other.

Now go and play that banger set.

Is VAT included?

Yes. €30 is the final price — no tax is added at checkout.

Which platforms?

macOS and Windows today. Linux is planned; see works with your setup? for hardware.
