What Alpha writes for the CDJ-2000NXS2
Alpha writes a full rekordbox USB the player reads directly: the classic export.pdb library every CDJ and XDJ has read for years, the newer encrypted exportLibrary.db the latest players prefer, the per-track analysis files with beat grid, cues and waveforms, album artwork, and the audio under Contents/<Artist>/<Album>. No rekordbox software is needed anywhere in the chain — the stick plugs straight into the gear.
The beat grid is built from the interpreted BPM, so tracks arrive beat-ready and the player does not re-analyze anything. One limit to know: Alpha writes one constant beat grid per track, so tempo changes inside a track are not modelled.
The NXS2 generation reads the classic export.pdb library, which Alpha writes alongside the newer encrypted one — so the same stick works here and on a CDJ-3000 next to it. Playlists, artwork and per-track analysis land exactly where the player looks for them.

Good to know on the CDJ-2000NXS2
- The NXS2 reads FAT32 and HFS+ only — no exFAT, no NTFS. If your player keeps saying "Format USB", the filesystem is usually the culprit.
- Beat grid, waveform and cues come from Alpha's ANLZ files — the player doesn't re-analyze, tracks load ready.
- One constant beat grid per track; tempo drift inside a track isn't modelled.
- rekordbox export is a new target — please confirm it on your own gear before a gig.
Common questions about the CDJ-2000NXS2
Does the CDJ-2000NXS2 really read Alpha's stick without rekordbox?
Yes. The player reads the rekordbox database directly from the drive, and Alpha writes that database itself — export.pdb, analysis files, artwork and all.
Is exFAT compatible with the CDJ-2000NXS2?
No — the NXS2 generation reads FAT32 and HFS+ only. Format the stick FAT32 before the first export; Alpha writes onto the existing filesystem and never reformats your drive.
Why does my NXS2 keep saying "Format USB"?
Almost always the filesystem: the stick is exFAT or NTFS, which the NXS2 can't read. Reformat it FAT32 (MBR partition table), let Alpha write the set again, and the player will mount it.
Will the same stick work on a CDJ-3000 too?
Yes — Alpha writes both the classic and the newer encrypted library, so one FAT32 stick covers old and new players in the same booth.
