What Alpha writes for the XDJ-RX2
Alpha writes a full rekordbox USB the player reads directly: the classic export.pdb library every CDJ and XDJ has read for years, the newer encrypted exportLibrary.db the latest players prefer, the per-track analysis files with beat grid, cues and waveforms, album artwork, and the audio under Contents/<Artist>/<Album>. No rekordbox software is needed anywhere in the chain — the stick plugs straight into the gear.
The beat grid is built from the interpreted BPM, so tracks arrive beat-ready and the player does not re-analyze anything. One limit to know: Alpha writes one constant beat grid per track, so tempo changes inside a track are not modelled.
The RX2 reads the classic rekordbox library, which Alpha writes together with the newer encrypted format — so the stick you prepare tonight also works when the venue upgrades. Beat grids and waveforms are in the analysis files; the RX2 loads them as-is.

Good to know on the XDJ-RX2
- The RX2 reads FAT32 and HFS+ — no exFAT. A stick that triggers "E-306 NO FILE" or won't mount is usually formatted wrong.
- Two USB ports allow a two-stick handover between DJs.
- One constant beat grid per track; in-track tempo changes aren't modelled.
- rekordbox export is a new target — please confirm it on your own gear before a gig.

Does the XDJ-RX2 need rekordbox to read Alpha's stick?
No. Alpha writes the rekordbox database and analysis files directly, so the RX2 reads the stick natively — playlists, grids and waveforms included.
How should I format the stick for the RX2?
FAT32 (or HFS+ on Mac) — the RX2 generation doesn't read exFAT or NTFS. Alpha never reformats your drive; it writes onto what's there.
Will my stick from the RX2 also work on newer players?
Yes — Alpha writes both the classic and the newer encrypted library, so the same FAT32 stick plays on an RX3 or CDJ-3000 as well.
