A prepared USB for your Numark Mixstream Pro
The Mixstream Pro is the friendliest way into standalone DJing — speakers built in, streaming on tap. But streaming needs WiFi, and gigs don't always have it. Alpha writes your own tracks onto a stick as a finished, harmonically ordered Engine set that plays anywhere, connection or not.
- 2 decks
- 7-inch touchscreen
- built-in speakers
- 2 USB ports + SD card
- Engine OS 3.x
What Alpha writes for the Mixstream Pro
Alpha writes a standard Engine OS 3.x library straight onto the stick: the audio files, the interpreted metadata — BPM, musical key in Camelot notation, energy and loudness — and the playlist in exactly the order you built it. That is the format the whole Engine DJ family reads, so the drive plays the moment you plug it in. No Engine DJ desktop session, no re-analysis on the unit.
Before Alpha touches a stick that already has a library, it copies that library to your computer as a backup. Writing adds to what is on the drive — it never erases it — and a track that is already there is linked into the new playlist instead of being copied a second time. After writing, Alpha validates the result and lets you eject safely.
The Mixstream Pro runs the same Engine OS 3.x format as Denon's Prime family, and that's what Alpha writes: your audio with interpreted BPM, Camelot key and the playlist in set order, onto a USB stick or SD card. Prepared local files beat a venue's WiFi every time — the stick doesn't buffer. And it isn't just one device: the Mixstream Pro +, and the battery-powered Mixstream Pro Go run the same Engine OS, so the stick Alpha prepares plays on the whole family.

Good to know on the Mixstream Pro
- Streaming tracks live in the cloud and can't go on a stick — Alpha prepares your own local files, so the set plays with zero connectivity.
- The Mixstream Pro reads Alpha's BPM, key and beatgrid straight from the Engine library — no on-device re-analysis.
- Waveforms are drawn by the unit the first time a track loads; a fresh playlist without them is normal.
- Same stick, whole family: Mixstream Pro, Pro + and the battery-powered Pro Go all read the identical Engine library.
Common questions about the Mixstream Pro
Does the Mixstream Pro work without a laptop?
Yes — that's the point of it, and of Alpha: the stick is prepared on your Mac at home, and at the gig it's just the Mixstream Pro and the drive. No laptop, no Engine desktop, no WiFi needed.
Does the Mixstream Pro read Alpha's stick like a Denon Prime device?
Yes — it runs the same Engine OS 3.x format. Alpha writes one library and the whole Engine family reads it, Mixstream Pro included.
Can Alpha put my rekordbox collection on the Mixstream Pro?
Yes — export it as a rekordbox XML and Alpha writes a native Engine library from it, keeping the BPM, key and beatgrid rekordbox worked out.
Can Alpha put my streaming playlists on the stick?
No — and nothing can: streamed tracks are DRM-protected and live in the cloud. Alpha prepares the music you own as local files, which is exactly what plays when the WiFi doesn't.
Does the same stick work on the Mixstream Pro Go or Pro +?
Yes. The whole Mixstream family runs Engine OS and reads the same Engine library — prepare one stick with Alpha and it plays on the Pro, the Pro + and the battery-powered Pro Go alike.
